In a conference call with Nevada bloggers today, Gov. Jim Gibbons answered several questions regarding Yucca Mountain and nuclear energy. Gibbons is on the record fighting the Yucca Mountain project, yet claims to be pro-nuclear energy.

Asked today to clarify, Gibbons explained his Yucca Mountain position. Yucca Mountain was planned and engineered to be the final repository of nuclear waste as we began to shut our nuke power plants down. It was planned decades ago as the end point of American nuclear energy. Gov. Gibbons is against permanent storage of nuclear waste. What he is for, he stated today, is a reprocessing plant and a nuclear power plant that will provide more Americans with energy.

What hasn’t been made apparent in past coverage is the engineering for the Yucca Mountain site is suited for only one purpose, permanent storage. There are ten-story high buildings with cranes built in to move the containers for the (semi) permanent storage. It would be cost prohibitive to re-engineer the Yucca site for reprocessing or for nuclear energy production. That is why Gov. Jim Gibbons is against Yucca Mountain.

What Gibbons said he would do is press for a Nevada reprocessing and nuclear production site as soon as the federal government and the EPA removed the restrictive licensing process for nuclear energy. He sees the importance of pushing for those high-tech jobs for Nevadans and to find a way for Nevada to provide energy to other states in the Southwestern US.

With the fallout of climategate, and the long string of lies from environmental groups, its a wonder that there hasn’t been a more clear-eyed review of our restrictions on building new nuclear power plants or for that matter, domestic drilling for oil. Enviro-nut scientists have shown their willingness to alter the data and hide facts to suit their agenda, when they believe they are serving a higher cause. For these reasons alone there should be a public airing of facts regarding nuclear power generation, transmutation, and reprocessing R & D.

UNLV and UNR could host the premier research facilities for reprocessing of nuclear materials. Nevada could lead the way in finding new, safer methods of producing nuclear energy. Money, energy, and jobs…. too complicated to grasp? Not if we get back to American innovation and capitalism.

It was refreshing today to hear Gov. Gibbons pro-nuclear stance, Yucca and the zealotry and hysteria surrounding it have managed to cloud the facts. It’s time to take another look with a clear mind and an adult attitude. The panic spread by anti-Yucca activists has been on par with the global warming histrionics that are now being proven to have little to no basis in scientific fact.

Lets move back to some firmer reality, and instead, start asking why the federal government wants to destroy Nevada? No housing funds to prevent foreclosures, No development funds for high-speed rail when we’ve been researching and working on it for decades, and our president keeps slamming Las Vegas as a vacation or business destination.

Are they trying to destroy our economy so we will jump at the repository? Will the EPA come riding to the rescue with federal dollars as long as we accept permanent storage at Yucca? Are we being set up, aided and abetted by our senior Senator, Harry Reid, and the anti-Yucca activists?

It’s time for Nevada leaders to begin pressing for a better deal for Nevadans and a better technological solution for America. We can’t just dump and forget, we need to recycle and improve. It USED to be the American Way to come up with innovative solutions, but it seems now the ’science is settled’ in too many areas that are just begging for a breakthrough. Let’s be American again and find a way through. Let’s come up with a better solution.

Gov. Gibbons, you could start leading the way now. Say it louder, please.

Our Fearless Leader, President Barack Obama, shuffled off to Copenhagen this week to once again play messiah on the world stage. Diplomats and dignitaries had been haggling all week long to forge a global agreement on reducing carbon emissions, and expected the heads of state to swoop in on Thursday to sign the agreement in a UN-sponsored photo-op.

The week has been roiled by controversy and disagreement, however, starting with the release of the Climategate emails before the conference even began. Then there was the leaking of the scandalous Danish Text papers, the secret plans of more developed nations that excluded emerging third-world countries from their talks. It caused those excluded third-world countries to walk out of the convention.

Enter Obama. In his speech, he was ‘visibly angry’ according to world media reports, and slammed China for not submitting to inspection and accountability for their carbon emission agreements. China, on the same day that Obama scolded them, expressed their sincere doubt that they or the rest of the world can continue to carry the US debt burden.

Coincidence? I don’t think so.

Our President hasn’t a clue how our economy is connected to the debt and the environmental regulations let alone the health care bill that Congress is about to pass. He doesn’t seem to live in reality, but in a progressive fantasy that requires him to fix the world, starting with the US. By confronting China over environmental issues, rather than human rights abuses, he has fired a blank in his gun of influence at the dragon of the east. It only pisses them off, and it doesn’t scare them. Let’s see if they will back us on the sanctions against Iran now.

The MOST INTERESTING aspect of Obama’s speech for me was his admission about his strategy. He admitted in Copenhagen that he wasn’t getting what he wanted, but that was beside the point. The point was to create a foundation that could be built upon in the future by ‘refining’ the original agreement. In other words, “What I agree to today doesn’t mean I’m done, I’ll be back with more demands of you tomorrow.”

When we turn to look at healthcare, we can see the same strategy is at play. A horribly flawed bill is better than no bill at all. This healthcare reform bill that the Democrats are going to force on America is not the end. They will continue to ‘refine’ it to suit their agenda as time goes on. That means it will never be done. Abortion restrictions will be challenged again and again until they are removed. The public option that has been ‘dropped’ will rise, zombie-like year after year until it passes.

The greatest reprieve for common sense on both the climate issue and health care reform is to let them do NOTHING until the science is settled, and the facts and budget are in full view of the American public.

Sadly, as Obama kicked sand in the eyes of China, Hugo Chavez of Venezuela anointed him with the Bush stigma, claiming there was still sulphur in the air after Obama spoke. To rousing applause, Chavez lauded socialism and demonized capitalism. Our Fearless Leader was not able to refute this dictator from South America, because he is himself a socialist politician. How soon the love disappears.

Too bad Obama gave Chavez stature by glad-handing it with him earlier this year and selling books for him. Now we see the credibility he lent to the strongman of Venezuela has been turned against him as a club. Way to go, B. O.!

November of 2010 cannot come soon enough to save us. I am convinced that the progressives currently running our government have a plan to suppress the will of the American people even at the ballot box. I’ll share more in days to come, but with healthcare, cap & trade, hate crimes, and the 2010 census, they are creating a jail-house of legislation that we cannot escape.

There they are, saving the planet with their wisdom, their dedication, their poetry…..  -yes, I said poetry. The global warming – sorry, ‘Climate Change’ faithful have descended on Copenhagen to save the world….. from the world. President Obama changed his arrival date to make it all so very dramatic!

Nevermind the hypocrisy of all the private jets and limos LET ALONE the heat needed in the winter to keep all the hot air gas-bags warm, no, these people know better than the rest of us, and they care more. They want to save the planet!

Nevermind that the earth stopped it’s latest warming faze ten years ago, (hence the switch to fear of global climate ‘change’) and that the last couple of years we’ve been cooling, noooo, we have to act NOW! Before the world realizes this long con has gone on long enough, the power elite realize that they have to put binding regulation in place before too many people catch on.

Nevermind the Climategate scandal that the media is currently ignoring about the leaked emails between global warming scientists that LIED about their results and MANIPULATED DATA to reflect their own bias. Yes, I’m looking at you, Dr. ‘Hockeystick’ Mann!

Now the chicken-dance about damage-control and spinning the truth has begun. Yes, THOSE scientists lied and manipulated, but that doesn’t discredit the science. Just because they destroyed data to avoid compliance with Freedom-of-Information requests, doesn’t mean what they wanted to be true isn’t really true. It’s all very scientific, you see, and YOU probably wouldn’t understand it, so just trust the scientists.

These dedicated do-gooders are willing to Gore your ox, even when the facts say otherwise. They are so committed, they don’t need any stinkin’ scientific proof! They just need to believe it fervently, and take a small set of data out of thousands of years that weren’t measured to make up their theories.

THEN, when data comes out to refute what they believe, they just get more fervent and start calling their opponents by dirty names because they don’t have proof. Did you ever notice that when people want to use facts and data, all they can say is, “The science is settled.”?

Global Warming was an elaborate mechanism to control world governments, to enrich the faithful, and to enslave peoples to a false religion based on manipulation and fear. Creation has natural cycles that are far beyond our comprehension, and if we survive the next 200 years, science will look back on this period in history and ridicule us for what we made of climate science.

It’s official. The Environmental Protection Agency has declared it’s jurisdiction over every breath you take. Carbon Dioxide was classified this last year as a pollutant by a government that has gone rogue. Now, the fallout from that decision, backed by the Supreme Court no less, has come back to haunt us.

Every schoolkid who has gone through basic biology classes understands the necessity of Carbon Dioxide for plant life to create oxygen. The rainforests of the world DEPEND on Carbon Dioxide to survive! Maybe that is why the oceans of the world release such large quantities of the gas into the atmosphere on a daily basis?

What happened to the Circle of Life, kids? C’mon, you know, the interdependence of all flora and fauna on the planet? Here is a perfect case of what we exhale as waste becoming the fuel for plants and what plants give off as waste becoming the very air we breathe. It’s a ’symbiotic’ relationship.

Now, if you believe the world was created to host the life forms placed upon it by a loving God, it makes perfect sense. If, however, you think we all popped out of millions of genetic accidents one after another after another to become who we are, then you might panic at every minute change in your environment in a world ruled by chaos and not by design.

I mean, if it’s all by accident, then we could be wiped out at any minute!!! OMG! We have to do SOMEthing! The futility and arrogance of mankind grows with every century. To think that we can do in 200 years of industry what ONE VOLCANO can do in minutes of activity is foolishness.

Our earth has been cooling for the last 10 years, which is why the warming evangelists have had to lie about what the data reflects to suit their pre-determined conclusions.  They are guilty of the very thing they accuse their opponents of doing. Even credentialed scientists who have a world-view based in their faith (religious beliefs) are told that they cannot participate in the debate or the research because they are biased. Project much?

The EPA will be the blunt instrument that the Obama Administration uses to force the Cap and Trade bill into law. It will become the salvation from the draconian regulations that the EPA and Cass ‘Regulatory Czar’ Sunstein will impose on businesses and homes. By playing one arm of government off another, they will achieve their progressive aims.

2010, anyone?  hello?
